Parkinson's Disease
The company has licensed a marker for Parkinson's Disease that may indicate disease progression 5 to 10 years before onset of symptoms.
In US alone, there are over 500,000 patients with disease (40% under 60 yrs) with total annual costs estimated at US$10.8 billion*. Average costs are 40% higher than prostate or breast cancer. Unfortunately the disease is difficult to distinguish from other related disorders and approximately 30% of initial diagnoses generate false positive or false negative results. There is clear un-met need for more accurate diagnosis and prediction of the onset of disease.
A pre-clinical diagnostic test could be worth in excess of $500 million per annum. Anteo Diagnostics has a strong Intellectual Property position protecting the assay it has developed with partner, Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute, and early commercialization opportunities in the data being generated from a large bank of blood samples from patients and control subjects.
